The western part of the roughly 50-hectare Neukoelln park was rebuilt after the Second World War from some 700,000 cubic metres of war rubble, forming the Rixdorfer Hoehe, which reaches 68 metres above sea level and rises 22 metres above the surrounding ground; the park reopened on 7 June 1954.
