- According to the Neukölln district, the Volkspark Hasenheide covers 47 hectares; Friedrich Ludwig Jahn opened the first German gymnastics ground here in 1811, commemorated by the Jahn monument. The present layout was created from 1936 (1936-39) by city garden director Joseph Pertl and extended between 1948 and 1953; the 69.5-metre Rixdorfer Höhe was raised from war rubble in 1951.
