About Hanover

Since 2009, Hanover has been building open-air fitness courses aimed at younger and older people alike. The city’s overview map lists 27 facilities, eight of them marked as calisthenics sites: Hans-Meinecke-Weg (Vahrenwald), Lister Turm (Eilenriede-Nord), Grünzug Vahrenheide, Burgwedeler Straße (Bothfeld), Stadtteilpark Steinbruchsfeld (Misburg), Canarisweg (Mühlenberg), Ferdinand-Wilhelm-Fricke-Weg by the Maschsee lake and Haspelfelder Weg (Südstadt). Since August 2025, a further calisthenics facility has been available in Volkspark Vinnhorst. (Source: hannover.de)

• For its BewegungsORTE project, the city’s department for sport, pools and events worked with partners such as the Calisthenics Hannover community on short instruction videos that can be watched on a smartphone on site. The calisthenics set covers eight exercises at the Haspelfelder Weg facility (Südstadt), including L-sits, pull-ups, dips and monkey-bar walks; according to the city, they are aimed mainly at teenagers and young adults with good basic strength.
