- The Allermöher See was created from 1984 onwards through the extraction of gravel and clay for the Neuallermöhe-Ost housing development. Its "Nordspitze" bathing site, directly adjacent to the fitness area, is an official Hamburg bathing water with a large lawn, an approximately ten-metre-wide sand beach, a cordoned-off non-swimmer zone, toilets, showers, a playground and a grill area; according to the city, supervision is normally present at weekends from June to August and daily during the summer holidays, 2 to 7 pm. - Responding in 2025 to a Bergedorf district assembly motion to enlarge the recreation areas at the lake, Hamburg's environmental authority BUKEA stated that the Allermöher See is entirely embedded in a public park, so no further expansion of the green space is possible. It added that the lake and its reed-fringed shores are a legally protected biotope under §30 BNatSchG and are designated for biotope networking in Hamburg's Landschaftsprogramm, which makes an enlargement of the bathing areas unlikely to be approved.
