Good to know
- The complex was modernised in 2019 by the landscape architects Naumann Landschaft for the Bergedorf and Mitte district offices: an ageing cinder pitch and cinder running track were converted into an artificial turf field, and a running track with a 50-metre sprint lane, a long jump facility, a beach volleyball court, a streetball court and a fitness combination for strength exercises were added. New floodlighting was installed so that outdoor training also works during the dark half of the year. (Source: web.archive.org)
- The calisthenics course is part of the Sportanlage Mittlerer Landweg, which Hamburg's sports senator Andy Grote and Bergedorf district office head Arne Dornquast inaugurated on 14 January 2019. According to the district office, the city invested a total of 5.26 million euros in the site, financed from the Masterplan Active City, the RISE urban development programme and district funds. - The outdoor sports facility, home of the club ETSV Hamburg, accounted for 1.4 million euros of the project, while the adjoining single-court sports hall cost 3.8 million euros. That hall opened on 14 January 2019 as Bergedorf's first district-owned sports hall; the district's 50 school gyms belong to the school authority. (Source: web.archive.org)
