Good to know
- After the former hospital site was privatised in 2004 and sold to the Schön Klinik group, the park's southern section with its partly century-old trees was largely preserved and opened up towards the adjoining Eilbektal green corridor. That redevelopment also renewed the existing Eilbektal playground and added further leisure facilities, including barbecue areas and a Bewegungsinsel. (Source: de.wikipedia.org)
- The spot lies inside Friedrichsberger Park, an approximately 10-hectare public green space in the Hamburg districts of Barmbek-Süd and Eilbek that was called Eilbekpark until it was renamed in 2014. The park goes back to the Staatskrankenanstalt Friedrichsberg, an institution for the mentally ill founded in 1864 that Fritz Schumacher extended in pavilion style between 1912 and 1914.
