- The Zirkuswiese takes its name from the Circus gymnasticus, a wooden circus building with room for 3,000 people that the trick rider Christoph de Bach had erected on this meadow in 1808 to designs by Joseph Kornhausel; it was demolished in 1852 and the meadow is still called Zirkuswiese today.
