Good to know
- The southern part of the sports ground was finished in the first two construction phases, already complete when the final phase broke ground in June 2024: the surfaces were repaired and a floodlit basketball court, a beach volleyball facility, beach soccer pitches, seating areas and a new boules area were built. The Sportverein Eidelstedt, which describes itself as the project's initiator and says it drew up a masterplan for the site in 2018, lists outdoor fitness equipment, a beach volleyball facility, small football pitches, a skate landscape, a bouldering wall and a parkour area among the park's facilities. - The final construction phase, opened on 10 October 2025, turned a former hockey field into an 8,500 square metre multifunctional activity area with a roofed open-air hall (a 15 by 25 metre playing field under a nearly six metre high ceiling), a 1,500 square metre skate landscape, a running loop around a central gymnastics lawn, a bouldering wall, outdoor fitness equipment, cardio stairs and a hurdle track. This phase cost around 4.4 million euros, funded mainly from the Sanierungsfonds Hamburg 2020 and RISE programme funds, and the park is free to use all year round. (Source: hamburg.de)
- The spot sits on the grounds of the Sportpark Steinwiesenweg (Steinwiesenweg 30) in Hamburg-Eidelstedt, a public sports ground originally built in 1984 as a simple pitch with a spectator stand. It was revitalised in three construction phases under the Bezirksamt Eimsbüttel and the Fachamt Bezirklicher Sportstättenbau as a key project of the RISE urban development programme in the Eidelstedt-Mitte area, and the finished park was inaugurated on 10 October 2025 after about one and a half years of work on the last phase.
