The Lessinghöhe is an artificial hill in Neukölln, piled up from wartime rubble in the 1950s and later laid out as a public park; it measures roughly 210 by 140 metres and is bounded by Kienitzer Straße, Morusstraße, Bornsdorfer Straße and Mittelweg. The Kinder- und Jugendzentrum Lessinghöhe stands inside the park, and its sports and ball courts had already been refurbished once in 2001 for about 245,000 euros with help from the local Quartiersmanagement. The play and sports areas at Bornsdorfer Straße in the Lessinghöhe park were rebuilt by the Bezirksamt Neukölln as a district-funded investment costing 830,000 euros including ancillary construction costs (budget item 71606, chapter 3810). The redesign followed two rounds of public participation in 2022 in which about 200 people took part. The decisions taken were to enlarge and relocate the sports area and equip it with fitness equipment, table tennis tables and graffiti walls, to add a basketball hoop to the football pitch, and to make the park entrances more barrier-free.
