Good to know
- Directly next to the fitness park runs the Wuhlheide skating circuit, about 850 metres long and 3.30 metres wide, laid out by the Straßen- und Grünflächenamt in 2005/06 on the oval around the Große Waldwiese; a further asphalt route of roughly one kilometre links it towards Karlshorst. The area had been a restricted zone established by the Soviet occupying power after the Second World War, and the barracks were demolished and the meadows restored before the track was built. - The Volkspark Wuhlheide was created between 1924 and 1932 to plans by the Treptow garden director Ernst Harrich as a combined woodland and people's park, with sports and play meadows, a paddling pool, a toboggan slope and an open-air light-and-air bath. According to Wikipedia it was one of the three largest woodland parks built in Berlin during that period. (Source: de.wikipedia.org)
- The adidas fitness park in the Volkspark Wuhlheide was built in May 2018 at the instigation of the Straßen- und Grünflächenamt Treptow-Köpenick, which also maintains it. The calisthenics and street-workout structure offers pull-up bars at several heights, a wall bar, a parallel bar and low push-up bars. (Source: wuhlheide-erleben.de)
