The Stuttgarter Zeitung reported on 3 February 2023 that Vaihingen district head (Bezirksvorsteher) Kai-Jehle Mungenast had opened the first barrier-free calisthenics facility in Stuttgart. Unlike a standard frame, its parallel bars stand further apart so the structure can be entered with a wheelchair and narrow towards the top so users can push themselves up; vertical grab and support handles help with the transfer to the horizontal bars. It is one of three calisthenics facilities in the Vaihingen district; the two newer ones go back to an initiative of the Jugendrat. Together with the second new site in the Vaihinger Stadtpark it cost 75,000 euros in total: 50,000 euros came from funds for implementing the 'Masterplan fuer urbane Bewegungsraeume' and a further 25,000 euros were contributed by the Bezirksbeirat.
