Good to know
- The city of Bochum rebuilt the roughly 2,300 square metre grounds of the Hamme youth and community centre on Amtsstraße into a meeting garden; mayor Jörg Lukat formally opened the site on 12 August 2026. The new play and exercise areas include a ball-games surface, a calisthenics facility and a swing, plus a discovery station and movable seating. Visitors to the centre, above all children and young people, had a say in the design. An open flight of steps and barrier-free ramps even out the differences in level, and rainwater from the roof and the terrace soaks away through an infiltration trench on the plot. Shade-giving trees were kept, shrubs were thinned out and new perennial beds laid. (Source: bochum.de)
