Park am Gleisdreieck was created on the former Anhalter and Potsdamer freight-yard land to a design by Atelier Loidl, which won a two-stage competition; German Wikipedia gives its size as about 31.5 hectares, with the Ostpark opening on 2 September 2011 and the Westpark on 31 May 2013 at a combined cost of around 18 million euros. On 17 December 2021 Grün Berlin opened a 210 m² calisthenics area at the Bülowstraße entrance of Park am Gleisdreieck, directly beneath the U2 viaduct, built as two continuous steel-tube structures with pull-up and horizontal bars, parallel bars, monkey bars and a wall ladder. Total costs came to about 264,000 euros, financed primarily from BVG compensation funds and from the budget of the Senate Department for the Environment, Transport and Climate Protection.
