- The Seggeluchbecken is one of two basins in the north of the Märkisches Viertel; the surrounding ditch system drains the surface water of the whole northern quarter, and the name derives from “Segge” (sedge grass) and “Luch” (marsh). The estate was built between 1963 and spring 1974 with about 17,000 flats, and its ditches were canalised but kept their winding course and were integrated into green corridors.
